Ring Zero follows a single session at a time: the bugs encountered, the design decisions made, the small victories and the longer defeats that come with building a from-scratch x86 operating system. Just a record of what it takes to keep a machine running on code you wrote yourself, layer by layer, until it becomes something someone could sit down at and use.
